Tell me more about the transformation?

Let me tell you about your journey!

As women, we give most of our attention to everything outside of us. We support our family, friends, colleagues, employers, employees, communities, churches. Sometimes it feels like you’re holding up the whole world.  Because you’re giving everything to them, their shining and thriving.  And that’s because where your attention goes, your power flows.

Unfortunately, the costs for putting most or all of our attention on others or on things outside of us, is that our inner selves feel neglected, stifled, small or sometimes, non-existent. We feel like we don’t exist outside of others, that we don’t know what makes us happy, we’re not clear on what we want and we don’t have the confidence to make things happen.

And life leaves us feeling like we’re not living up to our potential. But it doesn’t have to be that way.  You can feel happy, in love in yourself, excited about your life and at peace no matter despite having all of your obligations and responsibilities. You can have the power to create a life you desire and deserve. But to make that happen, you have to invest in yourself and take the time and space you need that will enable you to tap into your inner resources, the Source of all your power.

When you begin to focus your attention on your inner YOU, your power will go there too.  And when that happens, you open yourself to experience more of the magnificent genius that you are.

I believe that you deserve to live every day of your life with joy and power, that’s why in addition to travelling to this one of kind destination, this transformational journey will give you the tools to live a life that represents the fabulous-ness that is YOU.

During our time together, we’ll practice how to give your inner YOU the attention and focus it needs to thrive and soar. Together, we’ll harness our energies and empower parts of ourselves that have been neglected.  Once we do that, you’ll see how much you’ve missed out on and how amazing it feels to regain the POWER inside of yourself.

How does this work? Every day, we’ll begin with a group meditation, each day focusing on different types of meditative practice so you can discover what resonates with you. From silent to guided meditations, you’ll have fun exploring a wide range of ancient and effective ways to connect with your divine nature.  We’ll also practice proven ways to harness your energy through your energy centers and learn how to turn on your power source on demand.  It will be easier than you think it is.

In addition to our daily meditations, you’ll use active visualization and positive affirmations to create new visions for your life.  You may know by now that I believe in the power of writing.  You’ll also use journaling to write down the powerful messages that you will definitely be receiving from the Source within you that has so much to tell you.  With clarity and new confidence, you’ll be on your way to becoming a powerful new you.

“There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker or smarter.

Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside yourself.”   Miyamoto Musashi

Part 1: Your Cultural Adventure

For the first 4 nights of our journey, our base camp will be in the historic neighborhood of Pelourinho, the heart of Salvador. With its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, ornate churches, fantastic, authentic Brazilian restaurants, hip bars and plenty more, there’s so much so see and experience in magical Salvador.

This traveler’s mecca is full of rich history and culture, some momentous, like the birthplace of samba and capoeira and some atrocious and dark. The historic neighborhood was the city’s center during the Portuguese colonial period and was named for the whipping post in its central plaza where enslaved African slaves were inhumanely punished.  We’ll experience it all and as with all of our cultural adventures, we’ll be enriched by it all.

We’ll dance to the sexy samba beats of the drum; watch and marvel at the capoeria students as they beautifully combine martial arts with smooth break-dancing moves.   Or we’ll simply people watch in the plaza square sipping delicious caipirinhas as beautiful black and brown people enjoy the city life in the pulsing epicenter of Afro-Brazilian culture.

Each day takes us on new and different cultural adventure.  Some of the highlights of our enlightening tour will take us on an excursion of the old city, learning about African Brazilian history. We’ll also immerse ourselves in the experience the rich culture, music, dance and art that you won’t see anywhere else in the world.  We’ll explore the religion practiced by many of the African descendants in Brazil—Candomble, which was brought to Brazil by the enslaved Africans and evolved into a practice absorbing elements of roman Catholicism and indigenous traditions.

We’ll of course visit the Afro Brazilian museum boasting a collection of over 1100 pieces of contributing to the dissemination and preservation of the African and Afro-Brazilian culture.

We’ll also enjoy a performance by the renowned folkloric ballet company, Balé Folclórico whose African-inspired folk-dance performances will leave you breathless.

We won’t miss going to Salvador’s favorite bohemian neighborhood of Rio Vermelho, which has the best boutique shops for shopping, unique art galleries and cool music venues.

Before leaving the City Center, we’ll have an authentic Brazilian meal hosted by a local chef who will prepare traditional Brazilian dishes for us in her home. Yummy! After your cultural adventure through Salvador, you’ll always remember why it’s the absolute traveler’s paradise.

Part 2-Spiritual Journey

For the second part of our journey, we head outside of the bustling City to the laid-back village of Imbassai near Praia do Forte.

Our last two nights will be spent lazing around the pool in our eco-chic boutique retreat resort, walking up and down the crystal-clear beach waters and smooth sand beaches, and exploring natural pools, rivers and an ecological reserve of native flora and fauna in the area.

The former fishing village located on the coconut palm-fringed northern coast of Bahia will be the perfect place to spend time in quiet solitude, journaling thoughts and impressions, sharing with one another and remembering who we are really are.

There’s nothing like spending time in nature to remind us of who we are and what’s really important.

During our last two days together, we’ll focus more on our retreat activities, have deeper meditative sessions, and connect with ourselves to tap into the Power within.

We’ll go through heart and mind centering exercises that will challenge you to go deeper into yourself, connect with your power and help you get clearer about what you want for your life, address what changes need to be made to achieve them and tap into the power within you to create them.

You’ll return home fully restored, refreshed and empowered to take life to the next level.

Still unsure about visiting Bahia, Brazil? Well, because this is no ordinary vacation, sis’, here are my top 6 reasons why you MUST join us on this sacred journey:

THE SISTERHOOD! Imagine experiencing this amazing adventure with women like you: progressive, like-minded and open to unique, cultural and spiritual experiences.

During our time together, they’ll be acceptance without judgement and love without expectations.  No explanations needed. you’ll be so surpised how connected, understood and supported you’ll feel.

Forget about shallow networking; you’ll forge bonds of support and love that will last a lifetime!

THE BEAUTY! Salvador’s perfect positioning on a peninsula means that there is plenty of beautiful coastline to enjoy. Unspoiled beaches are easy to find and gorgeous, lush greenery surrounds you. From the amazing architecture in the city center to the lovely beaches on the coast, they’ll be plenty of picture taking opportunities during your trip.

THE FOODThe food in Salvador is divine—some of the best in all of Brazil. Dishes typically feature coconut milk, palm oil, pepper, and seafood. We won’t miss  moqueca(a rich fish or shrimp stew with coconut milk, tomatoes, spices and palm oil). One local favorite is Acarajé (pronounced ah-kah-rah-ZHAY) is a fritter made from black-eyed peas and deep fried in palm oil. The second part is the filling, typically a spicy mix of shrimp either in the form of vatapá (above) or dried shrimp. They had me at fried…:-)

THE CULTURE!  Salvador is so rich in culture. From music, to art to dance, there’s so much to see an experience.  I’m fascinated by Capoeira, which is a martial art from Africa that combines dance, acrobatics and music. Street performers are common to see in the City Center to get ready to  celebrate.

Dance is also intertwined in the religion of the Bahian people through their practice of  Condomble, an Afro Brazilian meld of christainty and indigenous religions. And then there’s samba. Hot hot hot are the only words that come to mind. So sexy, fun and exciting. You’ll enjoy our samba lesson.

The Afro-Brazilian Heritage!
Lonely Planet claims that there’s no other place in the world where descendants of enslaved African have preserved their heritage as well as in Salvador. Sometimes called Little Africa, as you walk around the city, the aromatic smells of African cuisine, the beat of drums, the reverence of African religions and the reflection of African people in the art are easy to see why that’s true.

I want you to hear this reason from a past retreat participant, who said this about her transformational experience on our last Black Butterfly Journeys Retreat: Traveling with Regine has been absolutely life changing. She chooses locations with the intent of opening your heart. She serves as an excellent guide while giving the space to grow and learn on your own throughout the trip. Her guidance allowed me to find out so many things about myself and I will never be the same. Liz G

You’ll definitely experience a transformation that you won’t have in any other situation. The inner journey will be the most important one that you will take because that’s the one that will change your life for the better.

Your Sister Guide on Your Sacred Journey

My life can mainly be divided into two categories–before consistent spiritual practice and after consistent spiritual practice.

When I am practicing my spirituality consistently, by which I mean, consistent meditation, journaling, gratitude, visioning and positive affirmations, etc., my life works. When I don’t, it doesn’t. Simple as that.

As a reformed attorney and Strong Black Woman, my life was filled with uphill battles, proving myself, and doing it solo. Consistent spiritual practice, including meditation, journaling, gratitude, visualization, and energy work, attending regular retreats, and getting the support I needed, transformed my life.

Now, my life is more amazing than I’d imagined. I am truly happy, full, and grateful because my relationships with family and friends are stronger and healthier. The focus of my purpose and career changed, and I’m creating a career based on my interests, skills, and passion. Best of all, I found love without looking for it.

I created Black Butterfly Journeys because my cup was so full, I needed to pour into others. BBJ is for you and all Black women who are too busy taking care of everyone else to realize what their dreams are, and who believe life is happening to them rather than knowing they have the power to create the life they desire.

My vision for you is to realize who you are, to see yourself as unstoppable, and to let yourself shine!

I want you to have the clarity to uncover your purpose and the courage to follow your passions so you can do work you love and live a life of your dreams.

And my greatest joy is to see these women return home feeling as rejuvenated and transformed as I felt, with all the tools and techniques they need to live a healthier, more empowered and beautifully balanced lives.

My vision for you is to realize who you are. To see yourself as unstoppable. To let yourself shine!

If this sounds like you, then let’s travel the globe, nurture our souls and transform our worlds, together!

Does this sound like you? Then join me. Let’s nourish our souls; travel the globe & transform the world together

I think I covered everything, but just in case if you have more questions on your mind, here are some answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.

Just so I’m clear, this isn’t a typical vacation, right?
Exactly, it’s a retreat, which in some ways, it’s like a vacation, except that instead of the focus being on the outside of you, the focus is on the inside.  On a transformational journey, you will do some vacation stuff, but the real experience is all about the inner you. Sure, we will tour sites and enjoy the beaches, the food and culture of the people, but all of that is the backdrop to the main event, which is you.  A retreat is your opportunity to check-in with yourself, create yourself and love and nurture yourself for an uninterrupted length of time.  And because you have a coach helping and supporting you on your journey, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

I’ve never been so far away and I have no idea what to do?

As a retreat participant, you’ll never feel confused or alone while preparing for Brazil. If you have a specific question, our team is available to assist you. You’ll feel fully taken care of and supported from the day you book your trip until you arrive in Bali. You can also expect a pre-departure call with our team to answer any finals questions you have prior to the trip.

About 30 days prior to departure you’ll receive suggested packing list, advice on how to arrive, as well as any other information that may need to be customized to you.

What about the food and drink, are they safe to consume?

Yes. We will be dining at either the resort or established restaurants vetted by our tour operator. Bottle water will be the order of the day.  And no ice please, thank you. But just in case, we will make sure to have tummy aids. If you have ever been to Mexico or any developing country, you know what I mean. Things happen, of course, but you should be fine.

Is Brazil safe?
Generally yes, but as with every where in the world, you have to use common sense. We’ll usually travel together. If you want to explore on your own, take a sister-friend with you and no walking in dark alleys. We will have to watch for pickpockets in the city center but other than that, we should be fine.

How do I get there?
You will fly into and out of Salvador-Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport. Once you arrive, you will be picked up and taken to our home away from home and taken back to the airport on our last day together.

Will I need to exchange money?
Brazilian real is the official currency of Brazil and is widely exchangeable available at banks and currency exchange centers. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, stores. Most transactions are completed in real and a surcharge frequently is added for credit card payments, so check with your credit card company.

How do I sign up?
